Lancaster Farming is the leading Northeast and Mid-Atlantic farm newspaper for market news, commodity reports, agribusiness information and news about 4-H, FFA, fair events, and rural life.
They asked us to create an online marketplace where vendors could auction and sell their new and used farm products – machinery, goods, tools and more – to customers throughout the region and, thanks to a scalable website framework, eventually, the country.
Lancaster Farming had no eCommerce infrastructure to build on, so we outfitted their site with a custom auction platform. Its flexible design accommodates microsites for individual vendors and allows them to customize their stores.
The backend support structure is just as powerful and Lancaster's admins have full control over the site data. Lancaster's new marketplace also features custom API's that bring products from other vendors directly to the site.
The Lancaster Farming marketplace connects with third-party vendors to ensure front-end product synchronization. It also has user-friendly features like product comparisons, bulk inventory uploads, and advanced search options.
With the new auction system, sellers can post products and buyers can quickly learn about and place bids on those products, which enables a seamless and fulfilling eCommerce experience.
