CBIS’ mission is to democratize startup and investor information- the most expansive database of startups (early- to late-stage) across all sectors globally. At the same time, they aim to generate valuable information by studying the pattes and trends of investment deals being cracked across the whole spectrum.

Dotcomweavers created a technology platform that enables users to:

1. Search thousands of global startups.
2. Create a watchlist to track particular startups and investors.
3. Search and view thousands of investment companies.
4. View complete investment portfolios of these investors.
5. Review startups and add comments about their products, services, business model.
6. Generate analytical reports from the huge pool of information available.

Solution Framework:

Dotcomweavers created the entire platform from scratch considering the requirements were very specific and could not be sufficed using a pre-built system. A dynamic MySQL database structure with separate databases for storing master data and analytical data was setup. A complete AJAX based user interface is setup helping users view things easily and fast. Various third party APIs (Twitter, Blog Feeds, News Feeds, Google Alerts etc.) and information resources were integrated and mashups were created to display related information on startup and investor profiles.

Results:

Today as world's largest user-generated database of innovative startups, the ChubbyBrain platform delivers intelligent information about and expert insights into emerging business models, technologies and companies. It offers 34,000+ Angel and Venture Capital-backed startups and 9,700+ investor profiles for free, and growing. CBIS' first offering is Chubbybrain which launched in February 2009 and which the DCW team worked closely on alongside the CBIS team. We continue to work with the CBIS team on follow-on offerings and enhancements as well.
